Beijing has seen it all in its long history: Mongolian warlords, dynasties, rebellions, colonialism and modernization. All of these events have left their mark and made Beijing one of the most fascinating cities in the world to visit. Some of the city's must-see attractions include the Forbidden City, a walled palace that was home to emperors that ruled the country for over 500 years. Another impressive sight is Tiananmen Square. Built during the Ming Dynasty, it was used in grand ceremonies to declare who became the emperor and empress. It also houses the Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People and the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall. The island of Hawaii is home to five volcanoes: Mauna Loa & Kilauea (still active), Hualalai & Mauna Kea (dormant) and Kohala (extinct). At the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park you can learn about these volcanoes and how they shaped the island's landscape.

The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park houses records and displays of over thousands of years of volcanic activity in Hawaii. Most of these events are documented in the Jaggar Museum, along with seismographs and other equipment used by scientists to monitor volcanoes. One of the highlights of a visit to the park is the summit of Kilauea volcano via Crater Rim Drive, a journey that passes through desert and tropical rainforest and has spectacular scenic overlooks along the way. As the Hawaiian islands are the most geographically isolated group of islands on Earth, they are home to unique ecosystems and you can explore some of these in more depth in the park's many nature trails and walks.
